1. Check the band before blaming the straps.

The band should sit level around the body. If it rides up, the straps often get tightened to compensate, but that usually makes the shoulders uncomfortable without solving the real support issue. A new bra should feel secure on the loosest hook so there is room to tighten as the elastic relaxes over time.

2. Underwire should support, not fight the body.

Underwire can be very helpful for fuller-bust shoppers when the wire follows the breast root comfortably. If the wire sits on breast tissue, floats far away from the body, or digs sharply at the side, the size or cup shape may not be the right match.

3. Choose cup finish based on the outfit.

Fabric cups are usually the smoother choice under T-shirts and fitted tops. Lace cups and lace wings can be beautiful for everyday wear too, but they may show more texture under thin or clingy fabric.

4. Match coverage to neckline and comfort.

A 1/2-cup style usually has a lower front profile. A 3/4-cup style gives more front coverage. Neither is automatically better; the right choice depends on neckline, breast shape and how much containment you prefer.

5. Rotate bras through the week.

Elastic needs rest. Wearing the same bra every day can make it feel tired faster, especially when the band is doing real support work. A five-bra rotation gives each bra time to recover between wears.
